Here's an Issue that may sound familiar to many service professionals:
Most of the time it's what's going on INTERNALLY that's messing with your results... It's now understood that if your internal mental world is not matched to your external world, then you just won't get the results you want. You may be wondering, "What’s happening? What am I doing wrong? I'm working all the hours, and yet I’m really struggling." On the outside, everyone (including your team if you have one) thinks you have a great business, but YOU know what's really going on, especially financially. As Sue and I have been working with salon, spa and clinic owners and their teams for the past couple of years it’s become really clear to us that marketing is only half the problem. We’ve noticed there are two things getting in the way. Yes, the marketing needs to be attended to. So we’ve been working hard on that. But most of the time it's something MUCH more drastic and destructive that gets in the way of success. It's what's going on INTERNALLY that's botching your results: I've come to realize that if the INSIDE is not matched to the OUTSIDE, then you won't get the results you want. Period. Here's what I mean: There's the OUTER game of Filling Your Appointment Book: Setting your business goals and taking care of the day to day running of your business. Then there's the INNER game of Filling Your Appointment Book: Your innermost (subconscious) thoughts and beliefs. If these do not match, there's no way you can create the business you so dearly want.
Take ‘Maria’ for example: Maria is an owner of a hair salon and she's been in business for almost 3 years. She seems to be doing everything she should be doing with her team, her client service, and her marketing. Maria is good at what she does, but the business is just not turning over what it should. Not even close. That's when Maria started coaching with Sue. Together they tweaked Maria’s marketing. But Sue noticed something she’d seen too many times before. Maria’s inner beliefs weren’t in alignment with her goals.
Here’s what happened when Sue probed a little deeper into Maria’s inner and outer game: Maria’s Goal: "I want to make £200’000 this year." Maria’s Unknown Inner Belief: "If my salon gets that busy I’ll get overwhelmed, and money is at the root of all evil, so if I make a lot of money I’ll be a bad person”. The Result: Maria unintentionally sabotages her own results because deep down she thinks if she’s too busy she won’t be in control of her life any more, and she holds a belief that money is bad. Maria of course wasn’t thinking these things consciously, she was horrified when she realised this was going on at the subconscious level.
